Kalyn Brooks Inspiration
Page 2

Here is just a sample of the lifetime lessons Kalyn taught me during her short 23 years on earth.

Adversity: Ignore it!

Achievement: Lay the plan and wait for the chance.

Loving: Don’t hesitate to show someone you care. Most importantly, love life.

Shopping: If you like it buy it. There is no such thing of having too much of what you really like.

Joy: Have joy in your spirit and share it. It’s contagious.

Food: Eat from the bottom of the food pyramid.

Horses: Ride the ones you like no matter what anyone says, and have enough sense to stay off of the goofy ones.

Clothes: One can never have too much leopard, purple, fringe, red, white and blue, or sequins. Be brave enough to wear what you like.

Pageantry: Ride Palominos whenever possible and always carry a flag.

Doing the Impossible: Try it.

Helping Others: Help whenever possible, in whatever way.

Negativity: Pretend you are deaf and don’t listen.

Dancing: Do it, even if you can’t hear the music.

Dogs: Train them.

Dreams: Always have one.

Angels: Believe in them.

From day-to-day, Kalyn lived as she believed. She was happy, took the time to share, was brave, “silly,” thoughtful, and allowed herself to be loved and love in return. She never wasted a day and she excelled in her endeavors.

Those of us who knew and loved Kalyn still sense her presence, especially when we need an angel. I am convinced that she watches over us and keeps us from harm. In the clinic and classic environments, we have had some close calls that we have too easily escaped. Kalyn always comes to mind. When I see a scrap of purple on the arena floor, I know Kalyn is not far away.
