Gymnastics for the Barrel Horse
This portion of the DVD is an introduction to the use of gymnastic skill building exercises to improve the horse’s ability to move freely forward, to lengthen and shorten strides, and to maintain collection during direction changes. Skills are designed to develop the rider’s position, use of aids, visualization, timing and balance. The exercises develop mental and physical skills that directly apply to the sport of barrel racing. An increased degree of difficulty can be added as skills increase.
Pattern Work for Consistent Barrel Racing
This portion of the DVD demonstrates strategies for obtaining consistent performance. The elements of the pattern are identified and the importance of perfect practice is highlighted. The use of visual aids to assist with obtaining correct positioning during practice is demonstrated.
