Susan Van Rein
Susan Van Rein of Lincoln, California, is an Associate Professor of Equine Studies at Sierra College in Rocklin, California. Susan sponsors the Sharon Camarillo Clinics in Northern California and accepts outside horses and students for training. She is an excellent co-instructor of horsemanship and works with our Performance Program when time permits. Susan is a competiting barrel racer and enjoys riding her reined cow horses and training cattle dogs in-between competitions. Susan says, “Everyone needs support and guidance. The two biggest influences in my equine career are Sharon Camarillo and Jack Owens.
Everybody loves Susan’s great horse Quatro. At 17 years-young, Quatro has been retired from barrel racing competition to enjoy living out the remainder of his life as a ranch horse. Susan is training a six year-old APHA mare, Odie, who she is now hauling to selected barrel races. Susan also is polishing the foundation on our team horse, Mr. Chill Wills. “Chile” is a 10 year-old A Sharp Leo, Mr. Peppy San bred, red roan gelding that we use for horse fair demonstrations, DVDs and television.
Susan is a member of The American West 4-D and The American Quarter Horse Association.
