Susan Van Rein

Susan Van Rein of Lincoln, California, is an Associate Professor of Equine Studies at Sierra College in Rocklin, California. She began her basic riding skills on mules and horses. As Susan's interests developed, she had the opportunity to spend three years in Europe with a German riding school where she credits learning basic Dressage and the overall feel of a horse's movements. Susan went on to capitalize on her strong desire to learn, by experimenting with a variety of equine disciplines. Susan honors my program by giving me credit for introducing the horsemanship philosophy she uses in training and maintaining good barrel horses.

Susan accepts outside horses, which she rides and trains with her husband Jerry, on their ranch. She also offers private barrel racing and horsemanship lessons and clinics around her area. Susan uses her insight into training to work with, and train cattle dogs.

Susan sponsors the Northern California clinics for the Sharon Camarillo Performance Horsemanship Program and assists me with special projects. Susan is currently working with our program horse, Chile, to retrain and build on his fractious foundation before reintroducing him to barrel racing competition.

Excellent Horse trainer

Susan honors the Camarillo program by using our philosophy in her own training methods. She trains both horses and cattle dogs.
