I thank Alex Cambell for his compliment, and congratulate the six National Champions (see photo, right), that resulted after our first trip to Australia! Three of the champions made an excellent showing as return students in the Tamworth program. We also had the opportunity to work with two Junior National Australian Barrel Racing Champions, Brittany McVicar and Bianca Hertel. Brittany is the daughter of National Champion Helen McVicar, another one of our original students.
With over a 2-second improvement from her introduction run, former National Champion Julie Cambell riding her green mare, Tiffany, set the pace running the fastest time of the program to win the 1D Championship, followed by Robyn Reynolds 2D, Dawn Barwick 3D, and Amanda Foster 4D. Congratulations to our Tamworth Divisional Champions and a huge thank you and congratulations to all of our Tamworth students who juggled their busy lives to participate in the program. Two very special thanks go to Robyn Reynolds and Amanda Foster who traveled over 20 hours from South Australia!
Twenty years after our first trip, it was exciting for me to see that many of my original students are still riding with passion and enthusiasm. It was fun to visit about our life paths and the journeys that have transpired since my first trip Downunder. Just to think, my son Wade was just barely four years old and now he is in the U.S. Navy!
