May 2-4: Fundamentals and Horsemanship

Barrel Racing is certainly alive and well in the North East, and we thank Paul and Janice Carotta for their hospitality at their C and S Ranch.

(Left to Right) Standing: Paul Crotta, Cheryl Price, Tracy Brandt,
Christine Horne, Jennifer Knapik, Lianne Miller, Barbara Bunting,
Piper Darling, Robin Annecharico and Josie Crotta.
Middle: Missy Santos, Noraiie Damico, Sheralee Fiore,
Sharon, Gina Madden, Alicia Turkington and Janice Crotta.
Kneeling: Debbie Pelletier, Michael Gibson, Sue Williams and
Kacey Crotta. Not pictured: Francine Caniglia.

Though, Jim Cheryl and I enjoyed the opportunity to enjoy a second spring with blooming lilacs, tulips and Dogwood trees, the weather drove us to the indoor arena. Personally, I prefer the indoor arena to help stabilize my teaching environment; it's always nice to have the choice to be inside or out, even
if the sun is shining. As that was the case on Sunday, we went outside for the final run.

We had several NBHA directors in attendance, including the NBHA Family of the Year, Richard and Debbie Pelletier, and their daughter Tracy Brandt. Laura is the forth member of the family. Though Richard is the support crew, horse feeder and driver, along with being the Connecticut State NBHA director, the girls in the family are the competitors. Best wishes are extended to Tracy and her husband; their first-born is due in September. Yea! Another member for the NBHA!

Also of interest, two of our students who have just come back to the sport of barrel racing after several years away from competition, used the Clinic to regain their confidence and focus. Sue Williams and Noralee Damico are both excited to get back to competition. Cheryl and I are excited to be apart of their success!

We wish good luck to all of our students, who came as far as Rhode Island to hone their skills for fun and fast times in 2008! Thank you to our sponsor Tracy Brandt for organizing another great program.

Tracy has scheduled two Clinics for May 2009: May 1-2 and 3-4. Call her at (508) 248-5644 to reserve an early spot.

Congratulations to these Fast-time Winners!
