SALKUM, WASHINGTON
Clinic Highlights
February 21-22, Fundamentals and Horsemanship
February 23-24, Next Level and Horsemanship
Spring was in the air in Salkum, Washington during our annual February clinic. The weather was a delightful reprieve from the grueling winter experienced by our Northwest riders. Viki Friedrich, and her father Van provided great ground conditions for the event and it is always so delightful to be able to work with Viki and the Rocky Top arena, truly one of the most beautiful and efficient facilities in all of Washington State. Viki, a talented barrel racer and trainer in her own right works diligently to not only manicure the facility but to perfect the ground conditions for safe and fast performance. I join with clinic sponsors, Jim and Cheryl Price to thank Rocky Top for their hospitality, and certainly suggest if you are ever in the area or have the chance to travel to one of Viki’s barrel racing events, please do so. For additional information, log on to the Rocky Top Arena website.
Kneeling are the fast time winners for Fundamentals
and Horsemanship: Ashley Simpson, Johanna Martin,
Mary Geiger and Heather Newman.
Each of our clinics provides us the opportunity to meet new students and make friends. I am always humbled by the efforts our riders make to attend my Performance Horsemanship Programs and the interest they have in learning the
skills necessary
to enhance their performance levels.
A big part of the Fundamentals and Horsemanship Program is identifying strengths and weaknesses and establishing Performance Outcomes in order to set competitive goals. It is an honor for me to be a small part of each student’s success. When my students leave my program. I remind them they are now “riding for the brand!”
Kneeling are the fast time winners for Next Level:
Rochelle Alexander, Shelby Noval,
Diane Carter and Henniemar Schak.
We welcomed five new students from Canada and their families who made the trek from Calgary to ride in both clinics. We had a blend of riders in our Next Level clinic, including two of our greatest supporters of Performance Horsemanship, Diane Carter and Angela Polichek whose performance and horsemanship examples helped inspire the Next Level students to maximize their personal performance. The Next Level program is designed to strengthen core skills and enhance the mental game of performance and evaluation.
Thanks to our sponsors Cheryl and Jim Price. It was an inspiring weekend and a great reminder that learning to enjoy the training process is an intregal part of each rider’s success. We hope you can join us in February 2009.
Congratulations to these Fast-time Winners!
