Our annual program at Black Hawk College is one of my personal favorites. It gives me a chance to work with my Co-instructor Donna Irvin, Black Hawk College Equestrian Professor who doubles as Performance Team coach for my program. During her sabbatical from BHC, Donna worked with me to refine our clinic schedule and educational material.

The college offers great resources with a large arena, fast ground, comfortable stalling and a climate-controlled classroom for our video evaluations. Natalie Hart put her gracious touch on the program while making sure all the students, auditors and parents were well fed and taken care of. The Sharon Camarillo team offers Natalie our sincere best wishes as she begins medical school. In Cheryl Price, we have a team nurse, now Natalie can provide the resource as team doctor! Just another one of our outstanding students who demonstrates purpose, patience and passion in her life.

A very special congratulations goes to Anna Gabriel who was named Outstanding Equine Science Sophomore Graduate during the Black Hawk College Recognition Dinner. It was a pleasure to work with Anna and her horse, Digger. She graduated with a 4.0 GPA and plans to attend Kansas State University in the fall. In order to fulfill her graduation requirements, Anna will serve as a summer intern for Kay Blandford while pursuing her interest in barrel racing.

An additional award was presented to Cheryl and I during the BHC Recognition Dinner for “Exemplary Support of the Development of Agriculture Student Successes Beyond the Classroom.”

Congratulations goes out to all of our graduating high school seniors, including Erin Mroz who chose to ride in our clinic instead of walking through her graduation ceremony. Erin will be attending Black Hawk to work toward her degree in Equine Science in the fall.

Students drove from five states to attend our clinics in Keownee. I enjoyed working with each of them and their horses. It is truly a humbling experience to have the opportunity to be a part of their successful solutions. Good luck to all of you who attended the Black Hawk program. I look forward to seeing each of you during the Sharon Camarillo Eastern Classic October 5-7, 2007 in Sterling, Illinois.

Congratulations to these Fast-time Winners!
