Wizard of the Classic
Thumbs up to our Performance Team
members participating in this years
Western Classic. (Left to Right) Jessica Hull,
Katie Deupree, Cheryl Price, Sharon,
Susan Van Rein, and our newest member,
Lauren Pai, Grand Champion of the Classic.

Congratulations to our 16 and under Junior Rider Josey Wortman, and Senior Rider Cheryl Gomes. These special awards are calculated on the average times from go-rounds 1 and 2.

The motto of the Sharon Camarillo Classic is consistency and good sportsmanship. Debbie Rossi, with a mere 17 thousandth of a second separating her two runs, won the Target Race and the Farm Tek Timer. Each year we reward the student/contestants who have been loyal to the contest over the years with an Appreciation Race and a coveted Gist Buckle, Rambo Blanket, Wall Stirrups, and a Double Diamond Halter as race prizes. Lauren Pai was the 2009 Appreciation Race Champion followed by Dianne Ryan, Suzanne Koch and Debbie Rossi. Congratulations to all our winners for consistent and efficient performances throughout the Classic.

Wizard of the Classic
Sharon's number one fan,
her father Bob Meffan, offers
words of encouragement
at the Riders Reception.
Bob turns 90 in December.

The contestants of the Sharon Camarillo 2009 Western Classic joined together to raise $2,922 for the Camarillo Classic Pink program through raffle, auction and Ride the Brand donations. This figure, along with what we raise at the 2009 Eastern Classic, will be added to the Wrangler Tough Enough to Wear Pink program which to date has raised over 5 million dollars.

The dates for the 2010 Western Classic are July 30-August 1, once again in Reno, Nevada. Mark your calendars. For those riders who have not yet participated in a Performance Horsemanship for Better Barrel Racing Clinic, be sure to check our 2010 Clinic schedule that will be posted later in the year for a learning opportunity which qualifies you to enter the Classic.

Congratulations to our contestants. You all are Super Heroes, in my book!
