WESTERN CLASSIC 2007 HIGHLIGHTS
Sarah Grey (not pictured) are our theme
decorators, along with Cheryl Price.
A special thanks to Chelsea for
being our poster model.
Another element of the Classic format that I am personally proud of, is the fact that each division pays equal money and beautiful awards are given to the top 10 Average Winners in each division. It is always exciting to see the Divisional Winners come up for their awards, and also heart breaking to see those riders who end up one spot or a few tenths of seconds out of the money. Honorable mentions certainly needs to go to riders like Gypsy Watson and Virginia Berry, just hundredths of seconds too fast to win their perspective divisions!
I believe we have the best support staff in the country. Many have been with us from the inception of the program. Jim and Cheryl Price, Ridgefield, Washington, work all year long receiving and transporting awards. Holly and Terry Gaya, Chelsea Gaya and Sara Grey, La Center, Washington, work along side of Jim and Cheryl and are the inspiration behind our decorations and Riders Reception.
Each rider is greeted by Don Pederson, Oroville, California, Barn Manager, and Wade Camarillo, Lockeford, California, who personally escort each rider to their stall area. Brent and Shirley Ankrum, Pocatello, Idaho, are our Arena Directors. Brent works with the Reno Livestock Events ground crew to create the best, fastest and safest conditions in the arena. During the competition, Shirley, Cheryl and myself are available for rider’s assistance and or questions to help strengthen our rider’s personal level of successful competition. Tom and Jenny Hull come down from Grants Pass, Oregon, to support their daughter Jessica and help coordinate sponsor appreciation banners and arena decorations.
Debbie Wood, Chico, California, takes time from her busy sales career to coordinate entries and is General Manages the entire show. I am very proud of our loyal staff that takes time out from their lives and families to be apart of the Sharon Camarillo Classic Team. Without them, our sponsors and our contestants, the program would not be possible.
