Congratulations to our divisional winners led by 1D Champion Bobbie Jo Bohlman. Bobbie overcame personal injuries suffered earlier in the season to set the pace with the fastest time in round one, winning not only the Classic Championship for the 3rd time, but the In Pursuit of Excellence Fast Time Award and the Appreciation Race to boot! Bobbie is an outstanding professional horsewoman and multi Great Lakes Circuit qualifier.
Three time Classic Champion, Carina Morris made a valiant effort to defend her title, finishing second in the 1D. Carina admitted the road to recovery, after an August tornado annihilated the Morris stables, has been an emotional setback for both her and her great horse, A Sharp Sir Charles. “The Classic experience has helped us regain our competitive confidence,” stated Carina.

The Camarillo Performance Team did themselves proud by holding their own in go-round and average competition. Cristina Borregales made the 18-hour drive from Texas with her horses Silver and Trigger, while Diane Holmes-Purcelli pulled Slider, her champion mounted shooting horse into competition after one year away from the barrel pattern. Most emotional, Donna Irvin made three consistent runs on her four year-old, PC Fancy Smoak, to win the Junior Horse Award. Donna personally sponsors this award in memory of her horse Vaquero and it was her goal to have his replacement take the win. I proudly acknowledge that each and every run the Performance Team made was like watching a clinic demonstration. Great job girls!

Consistency is a key word in Camarillo terminology and Jim Phillip demonstrated the definition of consistency by running just three-hundredth of a second off his first round to win the Target Race. Jim is a crowd favorite, a mortician by trade, and an inspiration in reminding us to celebrate life’s opportunities.
Congratulations to our Junior Rider Bailey Nix and our Fun and Fast Times Open Champion, Jordan Moore, nine years-young, . It truly is exciting to celebrate our champions of tomorrow.

Contestants from nine states set aside the challenge of high gas prices to attend the Classic.
John Irvin and Luan’s Leathers donated custom tack to this years Camarillo Classic Pink program. The auction and Ride the Brand program generated $1,217 that will be donated in the name of the Contestants of the Camarillo Classic to the Cancer Research Foundation.
